First Week of School

I survived my first week teaching Kindergarten! I am EXHAUSTED! Thank the Lord for this long weekend. I'm already sick! Apparently my obsessive hand sanitizing didn't help.

This week I mainly focused on rules and routines. Some of my sweet Kinders have no idea about how school works. One of my favorite questions was, "What is recess?" We have also been working on raising your hand AND waiting to be called on. Just because your hand is up doesn't mean that you have permission to talk : )

The first day of school we read The Kissing Hand and made these precious headbands from Jennifer at First Grade Blue Skies Kissing Hand Packet.

On Friday we read a few different versions of "The Gingerbread Man." When we went to have our gingerbread cookie snack; we found that the gingerbread men had run away! They lead us on a crazy adventure around the school. The kids LOVED it!
We were so excited to find those cookies back in our classroom!

MMMMM : )

We don't take naps during the day (Is this normal?) so, the kids are so tired by the end of the day. I have been putting on a movie for about the last 20 minutes of the afternoon and turning out the lights. I am OBSESSED with the Leap Frog movie series. The kids enjoy them and they are educational. It helps to have a little down time.I would highly recommend them. Amazon has a great selection!

I am really looking forward to this week being a little calmer. I wasn't expecting the pure craziness of the past week. Enjoy the long weekend. I will be resting up big time!
