Sensory bins are great learning tools for littles at home and in the classroom. They are fun, easy to set up and will keep your littles occupied when you need to get something checked off the never ending to do list.
Just getting started with sensory bins? Start with this post! As always, you know your child best so please choose materials that are developmentally appropriate and safe.
Here are 30 ideas of items to include in your sensory bins this winter:
- Snowballs: I have seen some in the Target Dollar Section too! EK loves these!
- Silver pipe cleaners (some people call these chanille stems, which was news to me until recently)
- Ping Pong Balls make great pretend snowballs! This is the best deal I have found! Split a bag with a friend of coworker!
- White Paper Shreds
- Wrapping Paper scraps
- Gift bows
- Winter clothing items
- Water
- Ribbon
- Ice
- Cotton Balls
- Marshmallows
- Jingle Bells
- Cookie Cutters
- Streamers
- Ornaments
- Felt Shapes: Dollar Stores usually have seasonal ones! Or you can always buy a banner like this and take the shapes off!
- Peppermints or Candy Canes
- Snowball Maker Tools: I honestly didn't even know that this was a thing because #texas but these would be super fun for pretend snow, real snow or sand. Multipurpose for sure!
- Christmas Lights
- Pinecones
- Garland
- Packing Peanuts
- Boxes or Cardboard from boxes
- Cupcake Liners
- Polar Animals: This is a fun set, but the animals are definitely on the smaller side and wouldn't be appropriate for littles! I like using bath toys and just pulling out different animals for different bins!
- New Year hats and blowers
- Christmas Tree Branches: If you go to a tree farm, they will usually be happy to give you some of the loose branches or needle laying around!
- Small Christmas Trees
- Snowflakes
