Fire Prevention Week is quickly approaching! In fact, it's next week! I think it's really important to talk about this without scaring students, which can be hard to do! I try to use this week to educate students on fire safety and learn about expository texts and writing. Here are a few ideas to make planning your week easy! This post does include some affiliate links to make your life a bit easier.
I made this big firetruck using butcher paper one year I taught Kindergarten. The kids LOVED it and it was a great way to display our interactive writing later on. You could also use post it notes to label it!
Students love learning about firefighters and all of their neat equipment. Here are a few of my favorite books to read:
After we read about firefighters and do some interactive writing, we make these little firefighters.
The coat opens up to reveal some writing!
Differentiated writing prompts are included so you can make this craft fit the needs of your students.
I am also really excited about this little Fireman Says Game from ConsumerSafety.org.
I am planning to use it as a Readers Theater in my classroom! One student will be the fireman and two other students will be the children. My students will love preforming for the class and will also be learning information that could save their lives. Download it HERE and read some of their other fire safety tips!
I put together a few more freebies for you too! : ) I hope you can use these in your classroom.

This is my favorite fire safety video released by the City of Brampton Fire and Emergency Services. I think it does a really good job of educating students without scaring them!
Have fun teaching! : )
