End of the Year Slideshow

The End of the Year is quickly approaching! Which means things are getting crazier! Hopefully, you have had time to check out my Getting Ahead of the Game Post with five tips for getting ready for May!

One of my tips is to get your end of the year gifts ready to go!I think the most valuable gift you can give students is memories! I love giving them this special photo album to help remind them of all the special memories they made in First Grade. You can read more about it HERE and grab your own photo album title pages HERE.

A slide show is also a fun keepsake gift! You can put it on a disc for each student or show it at an end of the year event! A slide show can be super consuming to put together and time isn't something you have a ton of this time of I'm helping you out! I have put together an EDITABLE End of the Year Slide Show.

This EDITABLE Slide Show (using Power Point) is easy to use and will make your end of the year slide show look incredible! The fun, bright colors fit any classroom theme. Just add pictures of your class! Over 30 slides are included!

The graphics are not editable, but all of the text is! Easily change wording, fonts, font size, and rearrange, duplicate or delete slides! You can add as many pictures as you need! Check it out HERE.

Getting Ahead of the Game: MAY

Typing the word MAY made me a little bit giddy! We all know what that means...SUMMER IS COMING! This time of the year is already crazy busy, so do yourself a favor and get ahead!

There are SO many fun things to celebrate this month! Plan now, so you don't forget about any of them! May 5 is Cinco De Mayo! We will be reading this book and if you are an email list subscriber, you have an freebie to use with it heading your way!

Wednesday May 10 is National School Nurse's Day! I love making this book to show our nurse how special she is! The kids always write the sweetest letters to go inside the book. It's not too late to remember your school counselor too!

And of course, we can't forget Mother's Day!

Read all about past Mother's Day Celebrations HERE and HERE. Check out all of the activities HERE. Each activity also has an alternative version that doesn't say Mom or Mother's Day on it just in case your students will be celebrating someone else. : )

At the end of the school year I like to send students home with a little packet of things to work on over the summer months and prevent that summer slide. I put together a basic packet that includes a little reading log I created and a Summer Writing Bucket List!

I staple everything together with some writing paper and it's ready to go! I also add in some additional math practice pages and specific skills practice for each child.

I have given the same end of the year gift every year that I have taught because I just love it so much! Just buy the cheap (98 cent) 4 by 6 photo albums at Walmart, add these covers and add pictures!  Read more about it HERE. I love ordering pictures from Snapfish and their app makes it super easy!

So I just finished reading this book! I wish I could send everyone of you a copy! It was such a great read and really made me think about all of the stuff that is cluttering my home, mind and soul! Honestly, I can't recommend it enough! My classroom is definitely one place in my life that is packed with STUFF. It just happens! I don't want to come back to a mess in August, so I can going to try and take 10 minutes a day to clean out a drawer, a tub or a file! I would guess 80% of my teaching files are also stored on my computer and on Google Drive, so there is no need for me to waste my precious space storing papers that are unnecessary. What can you get rid of?

I know that you plan to sleep (a lot) between now and August! I have to stay out of my classroom most of the summer and I always have a hard time remembering what I need more of or what I need to do! Did I use all of my Mr. Sketch markers? Do I have left over book boxes for next year? I'll redo my word wall words over the summer when I have time...You know the drill! Print this list on some bright paper and start jotting these things down!

Editing Eggs Freebie

Let's be real, editing isn't the most fun thing to teach.  This week,my students are writing about all of the things that make them EGGstra special and making this craft.

Of course I want their final product to be polished and worthy of their parents keeping FOREVER...which means we have to edit! EVERYTHING is much more fun inside of an egg so I came up with the idea of creating editing eggs.

Inside each egg, my students will find an additional little editing challenge to improve their writing like changing punctuation or varying their sentence structure. You can download this activity for FREE by clicking HERE. Be sure to follow my TPT store while you are there!

Hope you had a fabulous Monday!
