Circus Classroom Poster Freebie

This will be my fourth year to have a circus themed classroom. I honestly never dreamed of keeping a theme so long, but I absolutely love it! I also try not to go too overboard, and just stick to primary colors so I don't get sick of it!

Meet the Teacher Night has always been really important to me. I want my parents to see how excited I am to be there and just feel the happy energy in our classroom. You can read all about it HERE.

One of my favorite little touches is this poster. Pretend I'm reading this in my ring master voice...

I created it and ordered it from Vistaprint my first year, and I have used it every year since. Yesterday, I received a sweet message from another teacher asking for it so I decided to upload it to TPT! Just click to download.

I hope you can use this to welcome your student's families too!

Getting Started on Donors Choose

If you haven't ever used Donors Choose, you must be crazy! : ) This website has provided me with so many wonderful teaching materials that have truly enhanced my classroom. It felt like Christmas each time my new teaching materials would arrive!

Earlier this school year, I gave a presentation to my staff about getting started on Donors Choose, and now I am sharing it with you!

If you have any additional questions, please email me or leave a comment below! : ) Good luck!

Dare to Dream

I am loving the  #tptsellerchallenge! This week's challenge is Dare to Dream. I think it's really important to put your dreams on paper and enjoyed thinking about all of the possibilities with TPT.

Honestly, I just loved writing my blog and it took me a bit to warm up to TPT. I just loved writing about my classroom and sharing ideas and pictures. I felt really weird selling stuff and all of the technicalities of TPT intimidated me! However, pretty soon I discovered how easy it was to share my ideas and then allow people to easily download and use them too. It's also so fun to have some extra spending money (that usually goes straight back to my classroom) too!

Grow as an educator: This blog makes me a better teacher! I am constantly pushing myself to think creatively and teach out of the box. I also love the connections I have made with other educators and love having people to collaborate with!

Have a beautiful home: We are in the process of buying our first home in the Dallas area. Unfortunately, it has been a nightmare! This market is INSANE, but I am really looking forward to having a home again! My Pinterest board is busting with pictures of beautiful homes!I am hoping to use my TPT earnings to purchase furniture, decorations and any updates we may want.

GIVE: I want to share my blessings with others and find opportunities to give.

Need technology cases for your classroom?

Happy Monday!

I wanted to pop in and share this great give away from Gumdrop Cases! Gumdrop is donating 10,000 of their DropTech cases to special needs classrooms across America. The program provides special needs classrooms with up to 20 free protective cases for their tablets - and up to 60 cases per school district.

Gumdrop will be giving away all kinds of cases - iPad, Kindle Fire, Dell Venue, Nexus and more. The deadline for Gumdrop Gives Back is July 31st, 2015, so enter as soon as you can! I'm so disappointed that I can't enter this give away, but I am so glad to see a program for special needs teachers and classrooms. It seems like these special people often get left out.

Makeover Madness and a Sale

It dawned on me today, that it is JUNE 19! NO!
Summer is already going way too fast! : (
We just got home from a Texas beach trip! I'm so glad we beat Bill! It was nice to spend a few days away with family.

The past few weeks, I have definitely been going through Makeover Madness! I have been working to update everything in my TPT store. So this week's  #tptsellerschallenge was perfect motivation to keep it going!

I completely updated this product and I'm glad I no longer have to cringe when someone buys it! If you have ever bought anything from me, you should probably re-download it! And everything in my store is on sale to celebrate! : )

I also "met" my new classroom this week. I won't lie, I am a little bit intimidated! There is a ton of work to do and I always struggle with "arranging" furniture and finding a place for everything!  I know it will all come together though!

Have a wonderful weekend!

CVC Words with a Technology Freebie

Consonant Vowel Consonant
(CVC) words
are HUGE in Kindergarten!

These are the words we want children to sound out! CVC words are so important and I spend lots of time teaching various phonics and phonemic awareness activities using them.

Towards the end of the year, I noticed that my students were making careless mistakes while reading because they weren't looking at the entire word. I really wanted to revisit CVC words and remind them how important it is to look at the WHOLE word! I love any opportunity to incorporate technology, so this little activity was born! Students scanned the QR code on each picture card and decided if the word shown matched the picture and sorted accordingly.

There are tons of free QR Scanners available. I use i-Nigma on my iPod touches. I wrote a grant a few years ago on Donors Choose for my iPod touches and I have loved using them!

If you are interested in using this activity in your classroom, head to my TPT store to download it FOR FREE! : ) Just click the picture below!

And I always love an educational bingo game! My class loved playing CVC Word Bingo! I wanted my students to have to read the words independently, so I used my document camera to display the word cards. They read each word and determined if they had the picture on their board.

We played "black out BINGO" and of course the winner earned a trip to the prize box!

I hope you can use theses resources to teach or review CVC words in your classroom!

I hope to see everyone in Vegas!

Playing Catch Up

No matter what I do, May just always ends up crazy! It was such a wonderful busy month, I just didn't have time to share any of it! So here is a quick recap of the month...

At the beginning of the month we celebrated Mother's Day with Muffins with Mom! Check out all of the Muffins with Mom activities HERE.

I love sweet letters!

This month we also studied insects. We loved watching the caterpillars turn into butterflies!

I love making class books and this is one of my favorites all year! This book is included in my Bugs and Butterflies Unit. Versions are available for Kindergarten and First Grade!

At the end of the month we had Kindergarten graduation. Unfortunately, I ended up with a horrible stomach bug and missed it. I cried in bed the entire day. It just broke my heart not to be there. Luckily, my classroom parents were so sweet and sent me lots of pictures and videos.

And then it was the last day of school, which also meant moving day for me! It was so sad to see my empty classroom. You don't realize how much life and love you bring into a space. Or how much stuff...

I won't lie, it was sort of embarrassing...

An entire storage unit full...

After a long day of moving, I couldn't wait to attend the DFW Blogger Meet Up!

It was so much fun to meet some of these sweet bloggers in person! Mrs. Jones's Creation Station and A Dab of Glue Will Do were so sweet to host!

I finally got to meet my blogging buddy, Alexis at Mrs. Hudgens Hears a Who! You would not believe how much we have in common and get this...we live in the same apartment complex! Catch us by the pool this summer!

We even got a wonderful goody bag with some great gifts from From the Pond and J.Rae's Bakery. AND I won a fabulous prize...a membership to Teaching Blog Traffic School.

This month I also accepted a job offer in the Dallas area teaching...FIRST GRADE! I am so excited and definitely feel like God picked out a perfect place for me! I am going to miss Kindergarten with all of my heart, but I am really excited for a new experience! Maybe with less tears and nose picking...or maybe not...?
